Setting Up a Custom Domain with HostGator

Prerequisites

  • A purchased domain.
  • Access to your domain registrar’s DNS management section.

Step 1: Log in to HostGator

Step 2: Navigate to the Domains Section

  • Go to the Domains section in your HostGator dashboard.

Step 3: Access the Simple Zone Editor

  • Click on the Simple Zone Editor.

Step 4: Create a Subdomain

  • In the Name field, enter the subdomain you wish to create (e.g., "track").

Step 5: Add a Record

  • Access your domain hosting service’s DNS management section.
  • Add the following DNS record details:
  • Record Type: CName
  • Name or Host: Your prefix of domain name (or) sub domain name, eg, "app".mydomain.com
  • Value or Target: cname.voicemetrics.ai
  • Click Save to add your DNS.

Notes

  • SSL Configuration: It automatically generates an SSL certificate for your custom domain. If not, you may need to install one manually.
  • DNS Propagation Time: DNS updates can take up to 24 hours to reflect globally.
